Jan was born and raised in upstate New York. She has lived in Columbia for 30 years. Her interest in stained glass started about 10 years ago when she was looking for something to balance the high stress of her work. Although primarily involved in the copper foil method of constructing custom stained glass windows, she has also worked with kiln fusing of jewelry and other items. Recently her interest has broadened to include quilting which has surprising similarities in design and construction techniques to stained glass work. Retired, she has more time to pursue both artistic fields, with a current emphasis on color and pattern impact on design.
